I will be showcasing some of my collection at DECOPORIUM during the months of November, December and January, so do come and have a look!
As we approach the festive season, with Christmas just around the corner, I am showcasing my pieces at DECOPORIUM, Thorpe Arch Trading Estate (Nov, Dec, Jan). So do come along and see me and if you fancy treating yourself, or someone you love, then the pieces are for sale. There is a fitting room at DECOPORIUM and the ladies there will be only too happy to help.
I have also made a few little gift type pieces like the hats here, which are really fun as stocking fillers and are quite stunning to wear - I call them my 1920's beenies!
And of course, if you are planning an event for Christmas or the Spring, I would be only too happy to talk to you about making something uniquely for you and your special occasion.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
As we approach the summer, I have been busy dressing ladies for weddings and the odd cruise or two - with lead times varying anything from 2 weeks to almost a year!
For someone who has virtually no lead time, I do have a lovely range of stock to choose from which can be made to measure with one or two tucks here and there.
Some very interesting design shapes are emerging in the fashion world, which suit most shapes and that feel amazingly comfortable at the same time and I am looking forward to experimenting with these, using some of the fabulous silks and fabrics which are currently available.
Don't forget to check out my website for all my latest creations and feedback from some of my lovely clients.
We are already into the second month of 2016 and I can't believe where the time is going! A belated Happy New Year to all my clients and anyone who visits my website!
The diary is already filling up with weddings and I am looking forward to creating some really special outfits this year - so do keep checking my customer feedback section to see what some of my clients have had made.
A big feather in my cap last year was when one of my clients took her dress to New York to show off. The dress was a Koos van den Akker design and when she wore it to visit Koos & Co on Madison Avenue, she was pulled into the shop by Puk, the lady in charge, who was so excited to see what had been done with one of their designs. I later called Puk in New York, who was so enthusiastic about what I am doing and how I interpret some of the designs. Here is Jane wearing 'Afrika' and also me wearing another Koos design, my 'Coat of Many Red Colours'.
Spring has sprung and with it the promise of weddings, first proms and all manner of special occasions to celebrate.
I have just finished my first 'mother of the bride' dress in a lovely moss green Silk Dupion threaded with gold for Gillian Lishman, who will be hosting her daughter Helen's wedding on 4th July. I hope the sun shines on your special day and I can't wait to add your photo to my gallery.
Caroline from Ireland will also be collecting her dress for her friend's wedding in June. I can't wait for her to try it on - it is emerald green Silk Dupion and Caroline is tall, slender and has naturally wavy red hair. She will look stunning!
And I have been published! Living North Magazine has kindly given me a full page editorial in their Spring Weddings 2015 issue - the Essential Guide for Yorkshire Brides ....
And if we are talking about special occasions, I have just finished my first prom dress commission for the lovely Alice, who was very specific about what she wanted. The request was for something floaty and ethereal and I think I managed to capture the mood perfectly. Alice has promised to send me some photos when she is all 'done up', but in the meantime, here is a little preview of her dress.
Well that's all for now - but don't forget to keep an eye out for more news - and if you have a special occasion coming up, please do give me a call.
Well here I am at another milestone in my life aged 60, about to go and greet my birthday party guests at Middlethorpe Hall, York. The occasion gave me the chance to say a big thank you to some special people who have all helped me along, what at times, has been a rocky road. And yes, I am wearing one of my creations; dress and wrap.
Advance warning to all my lovely ladies! My spot at Goodwood Revival 2015 has been booked! From 11th - 13th September, you will find me on stand 69 in the Revival Market (within the enclosure) - so do come and join Angela, Fiona and me for a glass of champagne and a browse through my latest collection of vintage/classic styles. The two gentlemen in the photo will not be assisting .... An application is also in the pipeline for the Hampton Court flower Festival which runs from 29th June to 5th July - so watch this space for further news!
A big thank you to Gill Elliott from the Dales, who allowed me to take a picture of her in the velvet cocoon coat I made for her. Gill came to collect her coat from me in Ripon, before I hot foot it down to Spitalfields in London this coming weekend (3rd - 5th October). All things being equal, I should be in London once a month - fingers and toes all crossed!
My little corner in Wrens of Ripon, where I shall be returning from time to time. I have made lots of friends in Ripon, which include my clients, and I look forward to seeing them all again soon. My next slot will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 27th - 29th November - so don't forget to come in and say hello! I will tell you all about my big adventure in London!
